The January House of the Month 2022 is located in Big Spring, TX. A full home project with replacement windows, entry doors, storm doors, and siding. A total of 15 windows, 2 entry doors, 2 storm doors, and vinyl siding. All products completely updated the look of the home. The efficiency of the home is much better with the new products. Before
Before: Aluminum windows with clear glass, allowing heat to come inside. Wood doors would swell from the outside due to climate. The siding had damage from past storms and parts were beginning to rot
After
After: New vinyl windows with low-e glass & argon gas prevent heat from coming inside. The fiberglass doors do not have the potential to rot and were installed with storm doors. Vinyl siding was replaced on gables.
Before
Old aluminum windows had no low-e protection on the glass. Without the low-e glass & argon gas, the climate outside easily cuts through allowing energy costs to be higher than it should.
Doors were old wood doors with old rot and would swell during moist climate.
Siding had been damaged by past storms and parts were exposing the wood behind it.
After
The replacement windows now help the home stay efficient due to the energy star low-e glass and argon gas.
Fiberglass doors updated the two front doors and were installed with storm doors. Storm doors are exterior doors. They help protect the entry door from the exterior. Exterior storm doors can allow more sunshine by leaving the entry door open.
Siding was updated with Charter Oak white. Gable walls were all updated and provides better durability than the previous siding.
